Oster Holiday Ideas '63

And you thought I was bluffing in our last post with all that "Xmas in July" jazz, eh? Well, we're not gonna spend the whole summer steamin' up the mistletoe, just a few fun posts during the hottest time of the year to remind you, of course, that xmas is always. right. around. the. corner. ugh. So anyway, here are some crafty ideas, planned and designed (by John Oster Manufacturing Co.) to "take advantage of readily available materials" that happen to be lying around your house. In other words, if you're a penny pinchin', skinflint, Scroogeroo during the holidays, then doll-up some stuff with string or toothpicks, old soap, or a plant pot. Yes sir, being a cheapskate doesn't mean that you also have to be a bad designer... and these are just a few of the highlights inside this truly neat booklet from 1963.

PLUS! A cool Xmas boardgame!

Cute stuff Karswell! I might try the soap idea, seems weird but it might actually work. Gawd I love that Santa is commiting suicide on the cover with a staple gun, LOL!

It's nice to know that this sort of proto-Martha Stewart stuff has always been with us and that it always will be. Or, you know, a little bit chilling.

The Chilling, Thrilling Suicidal Santa of Summer Christmas... yes, forget the long cold winter, it's the dreaded dog days between spring and fall that are the TRUE killers. Might as well get crafty! Hell, play the boardgame, it's actually pretty fun.

Thanks for the comments.

I really dig that doorman Santa!

And the board game does look kinda cool. But I'm always a sucker for those things.
